Having been the Hon Secretary of BGSOB for a number of years, I was pleased to be asked to become the President. It was not an onerous task, and to host the Annual Dinner for so many friends and former pupils was a great pleasure.
Being a Member of the ‘Class of 46’, which had been well lauded by Morris Holm in his connections with the Association, made it even more suitable to the Members of the Class, of whom as many as 10 attended the most recent Annual Dinner. Let us hope the Covid-19 does not continue to prevent us meeting our friends again.
From 1997 to 2006 we lived in Northdown Road, in the building that from 1874 until 1935 had been the home of the Headmaster of the School, with other parts of the building being classrooms.
Having played in the School 1st XV, I was pleased to play rugby in London at a reasonable level and also played cricket in the summer for two teams, one on Saturday and a different one on Sunday. Quite good as I opened the batting on Saturday, but did not bowl and opened bowling on Sunday and did not usually bat.
