Born 1951. School was never my finest hour and I only did five years; well four and a half actually because of illness. Despite this, it has been a huge benefit to me and I feel very privileged to have gone there. There were aspects which I loved however, and one particular memory is that Joe Courtney used to help Brian Moore, Mike Fleetwood and I build various electronic projects in the library.
I went into the electrical trade for five years, which was always my first love, before being persuaded to join the family ice cream business by my dad and uncle. I only ever intended to do it for a year or two, but actually found the variety of jobs suited me very well and I am still there at age 69! I often say I can be an ice cream man, or an electrician, plumber, refrigeration engineer, accountant, vehicle mechanic or a diplomat in any one day!
Over the years I also built a recording studio and had many years recording albums. Now I am a member of four folk groups, have just learnt the cornet and intend to join Appledore Band. Determined not to rust out I suppose!
